MASSERIA POTENTI

ROSAPOTENTI SALENTO ROSATO IGT

€22,00

WHY WE LOVE IT

The Salento Rosato Rosapotenti of the Potenti estate is produced in vineyards located in Piana di Manduria, in the province of Taranto. It is produced exclusively with Negroamaro grapes, harvested and carefully selected only by hand in the second week of September.

After a short maceration process at low temperature, it is fermented at a controlled temperature of 13-14 ° C, for about 20 days. Subsequently, the wine ages in stainless steel tanks for at least 3 months before being bottled.

The wine has a clear, warm and passionate pink color.  The nose opens with exquisite aromas of rose, violet and cherry. On the palate, it is refreshing and velvety, persistently finishing with a fine return of fruity tones. Recommended in combination with fish, crustaceans and molluscs, this rosé wine is a delightful choice to accompany unseasoned cheeses and white meats as well. As an aperitif, Salento Rosato is par excellence.

 THE STORY BEHIND

The Negroamaro grape is a dark skinned grape, growing almost exclusively in the Salento area. It was introduced by the Greeks since the seventh century BC, when the Hellenic colonists arrived on the Italian coasts and founded numerous towns there. This makes the ancient vines over 1500 years in existence.

It is believed the name "Negroamaro" derives from the dialect "niaru maru" which translates to bitter, black, describing 2 of its wine’s characteristics: dark grape and high levels of tannins. It is also believed that the name Negroamaro is a union of Latin (niger) and Greek (mavros), which simply translates to its grape color “black-black.”
