Primitivo di Manduria
These are arid lands near the Ionian Sea, where the Primitivo vines are planted directly into the sand. In other areas, we find exposed limestone rocks, cracked and fissured, which provide shelter from the summer heat for the vines' roots. These are now small patches of land where all the work is still done by hand. The summers here are hot and dry, with a significant temperature difference between day and night, which helps create wines with a great polyphenolic structure. Located by the sea, the vines breathe in the salty sea breezes and the aromas of the Mediterranean scrub, scents that are then reflected in the wines.
