In addition to being a simple decoration, the stained effect on ceramics is reminiscent of ancient beliefs and customs that tie us to nature which is an important element in Apulian life.
In fact, the master craftsmen obtain the stained effect (smamriato) by spraying the plates with bunches of twigs from the Mediterranean shrubs, dipped in the residual glaze of colors. This has always made every piece unique and special.
The white and green shade is a popular selection because it is a traditional color that is in most Apulian homes.
